THREE THINGS I LEARNED FROM MY SPONSOR

Being an ANCOP Scholar is an answered prayer. It was truly a grace over a graces and blessing over blessings.

My family experienced hardships in life — struggled in financial stability, including our allowances and budget for schoolworks.

I was even stuck up with my anxieties because it was hard for me to see my family trying to endure life’s crisis. Yet, I passionately pursued my dream. I did my classmates’ paperworks, assignments, homeworks, involving drawing plates, just so they could pay me off and sustain my needs for school.

I am blessed that I became a YFC. I remember that it was in my second semester as a second year BS Science Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering student, when a YFC Coordinator of mine knew our family’s situation and helped me get into the scholarship.

I am thankful to ANCOP, especially to my sponsor - AGW. And if there are things I've learned from them, these would be faith, hope and love.

Faith
I’ve seen how ANCOP, AGW and even CFC shared their prayers for me; not just praying for me as a scholar but also including my personal prayers. It is through their faith that they also answer the call of the Lord to answer the plea of the poor.

Hope
AGW gave me a sense of hope. Granting me the scholarship allowed me to go forward amidst the trials of life and taught me to dream big. That hope made me realize that even if I struggle, I can do more and be more.

Love
Sharing their time, effort and treasures to me and continuously lending their hands to those in need led me to feel the love they have, above all, for God. They love God so much that they also love people like me. Their love for God is beyond measure for if not because of it, I might’ve got lost and lose the battle itself. Because of their love, I am also being reminded to love - the lost, the last and the least.

Truly, being an ANCOP scholar is a great affirmation from God. It does not only help me, but also helps my family. I even get to pay my boarding house, our electricity bill, water bill and my fees at school.

I truly praise God for putting me here. It is a great venture to be part of this community and to be an AGW Scholar.

I will continue to strive and to thrive. To dream big and to do more. For if not because of the generosity of the Lord through ANCOP and AGW, I will never become the person that I am today.

Because of ANCOP, I will never be the same.

I WALK FOR A SCHOLAR

The commitment and cooperation of the CFC Community, specifically the ANCOP mission, “Answering the Cry of the Poor” inspired me to participate in the Global Walk.

The purpose has motivated me to contribute towards the betterment of the future of poor students who are struggling in their education. Just only to walk (not even to run) a few distances and you can now change the future of a child and his or her family forever.

I learned that through AGW, the scholars could have a bright future because of our contribution. That our little generosity can give a significant impact to the lives of AGW beneficiaries.

Let me quote the words of CFC ANCOP Chairman Ermelo Villaroman, Jr. from the message of Fr. Letada: “ANCOP Global Walk is an opportunity for us to be a gift to the Church and to be God’s answer to the cry of the poor.” This is the message that inspired me to participate actively in AGW. We have to live as children’s light, in doing so, we do not go alone, there must be others, and that is our community. Thus, CFC never moves alone, there is always togetherness and this makes our endeavor beneficial to children — giving them a brighter future and a more beautiful light for the children’s and their family’s future.

Walking with brothers and sisters in the community in a short distance (a kilometer or more) can make a beautiful difference to an individual. What I always bear in mind is that God is with me in all endeavors that I am involved with. That I am not walking alone, despite any storm that may be encountered, because there is always the grace of God to achieve our common goal.

My commitment of sharing God’s love with others keeps me attending the global walk. In every step that I do, it matters to make everything count and be of help in fulfilling the dreams of many children. Walking not only to share love for others but would be beneficial to ourselves physically and emotionally as well. It’s only once a year, thus, it is self-fulfilling to serve others and share what we have in our own simple way.

Moreover, success of AGW is driven by our desire to continuously provide the best kind of help and service to the less fortunate. This keeps me always actively involved in global walk and drive activities within the community in trying to help the marginalized.

I will join hand in hand with my co-walkers and see this as an opportunity to serve the underprivileged and stay positive. Give less to self, more for others, enough for all, and all for God.

Growing up in a less privileged community did not hinder me to realize the value of education.

Despite our financial incapability and academic challenges, I persevered, and set my family as my number one inspiration — even up to this day.

My parents, Rodolfo and Emma Fernandez, are members of Couples for Christ in Camarines Sur. My father does not have a regular job, but takes his time and effort to work on the sidelines, like being a driver and an autocad mechanic. Meanwhile, my mother is a plain housewife. I have three siblings - the other two are now working by the grace of God, and the youngest still in senior high school and is living with my parents in Bicol. At the moment, I am the one providing for my family.

In retrospection, I can say that I wouldn’t be able to do what I am able now if not because of the ANCOP family. When I was still studying, my father was so persistent in getting me a scholarship. It was when ANCOP chose me to be part of the Camarines Sur Scholars.

It was in 2015 when the labor of ANCOP finally came to fruition. I graduated with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Ragay Capus). From the same year, I took and with the help of our Lord, passed the CPA board exam.

The four years of being an ANCOP Scholar helped me a lot. But above all, it made me appreciate more the little things in life, and made me more persistent in my dreams.

I am now an Internal Auditor at Golden Bria Holdings, Inc. in Las Piñas. Small problems still arise but despite that I’m still blessed everyday.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank the ANCOP Camsur chapter and to all sponsors and donors locally and abroad. My educational pursuits would not be possible without your generous support. Thank you very much and God bless you all.

From a Scholar to Professional Animator

Ruby Mae G. Regilme, a former ANCOP Scholar, now working as Animator at Provincial Capital of Camarines Sur. Let's take a look back on her journey before she became who she is now.

Just like any other story that we used to hear, life was never been easy on her. She is the third child of Noel Regilme, who is working as helper in her grandmother's house, and Ruth Regilme, who is working as maid in Legazpi City. Her mother cannot take good care of her and her three other siblings because she can only stay at their home one day in a week. Despite this reality, her parents is still serving Couples for Christ as CFC Chapter Head of North Cluster in the province of Albay.

When she was in Elementary, she did not yet fully realized nor show her talent in drawing and arts, but she used to be a consistent honor student. While in her high school years, she has a part-time in sketching that helped her somehow to sustain her "baon" in her schooling. When she reached College, she took up a course that is close to her heart. She took up Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Major in Animation at Bicol University. Throughout her four years in College, her God-given talent in arts were more honed and realized.

In her difficulty in financial needs for her studies, she believed that God will always provide. Being an ANCOP scholar helped her and her family to lessen their financial problem. According to her, as well as from her parents, Being an ANCOP scholar is a blessing from God because it enables them to sustain her needs in school especially in projects needed in her course.

She quoted, "As an ANCOP Scholar recipient po, sobrang thankful po ako kasi isa ako sa mga estudyanteng natulungan nilang makapagtapos ng pag-aaral, hindi lng po financially pati spritually naggrow po ako. Mas lumalim po ang pananampalataya ko at ng family ko po kay God, ngayon po paunti- unti ko nang natutupad ang mga pangarap ko sa buhay most especially para sa family q. Lahat po yun ay dahil sa tulong ng Ancop. Thank you po.”

Now, aside from being an Animator, she is also helping her family especially her younger sister to finish her studies in Nursing in Bicol University.

She remains grateful to the community and to ANCOP for allowing her to experience the gift of education, a gift that changed her life.

ANCOP scholar: Anchored in Faith

"It is really a big blessing to me and my family having [ANCOP] scholarship since my father died last 2016, and now it is only my mother who is working to provide our daily needs", Richelle.

Richelle Cantonjos Raborar is an ANCOP scholar in Masbate province since year 2017. A year before she got her scholarship, she lost her father; till then, it is only her mother who works hard to sustain their daily needs in their household. It was tough for her too. There was a time when she almost give up on her dreams because of their reality. But through her faith in God, she chose to kept going.

She shared, " Thankfully God never abandoned us, and He gave us hope through ANCOP. Because of the generosity and good heart of the people in CFC community, I am able to continue my studies and pursue my dreams. It is truly a big blessing to my family".

Furthermore, she also shared to us that being part of the community motivates her to strive more in life. For it not only gives her financial support but also helping her to grow morally and spiritually.

Now, she is inspired to work hard to achieve her dreams in life and help her family in the near future. She is currently on her 2nd year in College taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English.

Lastly, she quoted, "Every time I face challenges and hardships, I always keep in mind that the Lord is always there beside me. I will keep my faith and trust in Him, surrendering everything to the Lord and fully trust His ways. I hope and pray unceasingly to be successful someday together with all the people that supports me and my family. And hoping someday to give back all the help that the Lord has given me and become a blessing to others as well".

After all the trials and hardships Richelle had been through and will go through, with her faith anchored with God, she knows she will overcome.

Walk and Journey

Hi! I am John Louie Z. Orteza, household leader of CFC – Singles for Christ Masbate. My brothers and sisters in the community inspired me to join ANCOP Global Walk to participate in a walk for a cause. Only then, when I experienced my first AGW did I realized that a simple act could give a big impact.

During the walk, I remembered my journey towards what I have attained today. I remembered how the Lord, my love ones, and inspirations walked with me towards achieving my dreams. I never lose hope and never lose sight of my dreams despite of all the hardships I had encountered and unceasingly praying to God. I am blessed that I am now a Licensed Professional Teacher and currently teaching at public school. Indeed dreams do come true when we surrender it to God and let His love flow in us.

Through the dream that God planted in me, and blessed me to fulfil it despite the challenges I had experienced in my journey, I was moved to love more and share this love especially to those who are in need. As Pope Francis said, “When you lose the capacity to dream, you lose the capacity to love”.And it is true to me, I praised the Lord for all the dreams that He has blessed me with and for making me His vessel of love during the walk. I pray that this love radiates to those people in need and lighten up their dreams too.

What is keeping me inspired to attend global walk? My answer is simple, It is love that I have received from the Lord. I know that every steps that I make is a step closer towards the dream of the people who are in need. I will keep on attending the global walk to inspire my family members and friends and share this amazing experience with them. Soon, we will walk together to support scholars get the bright future they deserve and help make their dreams come true.

ANCOP: A GIFT

Hello, I am Jazmine Luzon, grade 10 student of Gallanosa National Highschool, Irosin Sorsogon. I am a member of CFC Youth for Christ Sorsogon and currently serving as household head and KFC ROCK facilitator in our Chapter.

When I was in fifth grade, an unexpected blessing came to me and to my family. I was one of the chosen scholar of CFC ANCOP ESP. It is a program that offers scholarship grant to students who are less privilege in pursuing their studies due to difficulties in life. All throughout these years, the program helped thousands of students to finish their studies. Thankfully, I am one of them.

I grew up in a not-so-well-off family. We live every single day by God's grace and providence. There were times that my parents struggled to sustain all my needs in school because of financial problem. But God never forget about us, through the help of ANCOP scholarship, I was motivated to be diligent in my studies despite our difficulties.

Having a scholarship is also a relief to my parents because it lessen their concern in my studies through the financial support given by ANCOP.

Being a scholar is indeed a gift to me. Aside from financial assistance, I was given an opportunity to grow as a better person holistically; a responsible student, obedient daughter, and a faithful servant of God. I realized that being a receiver of gift I must also share this gift to other. And I am doing this through volunteering and being a leader in YFC.

I am forever grateful to CFC ANCOP for being a gift and a vessel that is helping me to finish my studies and to pursue my dreams in life.

Walk for Someone's dream

Every time I attendee AGW, I am always excited because I know that the love of the Lord is contagiously radiating in the gathering. I know that every step that I take in the walk, there is someone out there who are going to have a bright future" - Christine.

Hello, I am Christine Lagunilla Pryor, SFC member and household leader from Irosin, Sorsogon.

In July 2017, I became part of CFC Community in our province and had my first ANCOP Global Walk (AGW) experience. I was very excited that time because aside from household meetings that was the first big gathering in the community I am going to attend to. I looked forward to the activity even though I had no idea what will going to happen nor what is the event for.

When I learned that AGW is held annually nationwide with its objective to help young people in need to continue chasing their dreams, I was amazed and touched. I am inspired to participate in the Global Walk because during my College years, I am also a scholar. I finished my studies because there were people who helped me, and now it is my simple way to give back.

During the event, I witnessed how God moves in every individual, family, and circle of friends participating in the event. Every step, every smiling face, and every click of the camera to capture great moments made me realized that life is worth living when we share what we have to others in need.

Hello, I am Roanne de Quiroz, Couples for Christ scholar, an ANCOP Global Walker.

Being part of CFC Community and as a scholar, I am always inspired to join the Global Walk because I believe that just by participating in the event, is my way of telling the world that kindness and generosity are gift to each of us. This is a way of sharing our blessings especially to our brothers and sisters in need of our support in their studies. It is also the Lord's intervention to deliver to us His good news-- in our daily living He is always with us.

Thus, I will not stop walking with the Lord, for at the moment I step forward, I know I have someone with me walking for others as well.

Grateful amidst trails

Hello, I am Valerie A. De Leon, first year College student of Catanduanes State University taking up Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, an ANCOP scholar.

In year 2018 I been chosen as one of the scholars of ANCOP. I was so grateful because it truly helps me to sustain my financial needs in my studies. Being one of the scholars motivate me to strive harder in school.

In the process, I never thought it will came the time where I will be shaken by trials. I almost lost my scholarship back then. I was frustrated when I am forced to shift to another course because my grades did not reach the standard qualification of the course. I was devastated, really, but I still trust in the plans of the Lord for me. And indeed He never fails me.

I have so many things to be grateful for as an ANCOP scholar. First, I am thankful to the Lord for blessing me with the scholarship. Second, it is an honor for me to be part of the beautiful community of CFC-Youth for Christ. Through this community I am able to meet new people that later on turn to a family. Third, I am grateful to the titos and titas who never get tired of guiding and supporting us. Lastly, to the whole community of ANCOP and Couples for Christ for being a reminder of love of the Lord to me.

Despite the trials along the way that try to break us down, we must remember that there are also a lot of reason to be grateful for to the Lord.
